Strange creatures spotted at Tulsa Red Castle
« on: July 05, 2005, 06:45:39 AM »
Tulsa Red Castle's Ed Kessey broke out "Mojo" Saturday to battle my faithful Spotting Kitty.  Mojo had the magic, helping Ed to win the overall Match.  Spotting Kitty left me three targets behind Ed in the overall.  Going to get her a new pair of earrings before we go back in August.  Watch out Mojo.....

Sorry about that.  Guess it's a kind of an inside joke.  Couple of years ago I had a terrible time keeping up with my Anschutz at Winnsboro.  So many guns and all look quite a bit alike.  So, I bought Spotting Kitty, formerly a golf club head cover now a certified mascot and prime time spotter and began putting her on my gun so I could tell at a glance where mine was.  This year at the Nationals Troy Lawton rubbed her head for luck and went on to win the Hunter rifle National Championship.  Not taking anything away from Troy, he's a great shot, but Spotting Kitty has to have made a difference.  I travel to Tulsa Red Castle every month to shoot with the folks there.  Ed Kessey, who also travels to Winnsboro and to Benton Arkansas for the Midsouth Classic brought out "Mojo" to combat the infamous Spotting Kitty from Fort Smith.   Guess we've got too much time on our hands..........

OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH I get it now you where talking about the stuffed animals I thought it was that orange headbanded thing and that bearded monster.

I know if you dragged those two out it would effect my score........but so does a ominous green bottle of fire water called scotch........or a red and white can of liquid they call brewski... I am so easily distracted

I came up with one but the rest of the crowd got squimish when the herse tried to load it up, the other one was protected by some federal law about miss labeling bio hazzard material.......who would have thunk it.

For Feez and others: Mojo is an authentic Kachina doll from NM, given to me by School Belle after the 2004 Nationals in Raton. I had the pleasure of spotting for her when she won 2 of 3 matches and the aggregate in A class, SBHR. Incidentally, Michelle is now AAA in both Std and HR. As I had been shooting a class or two below what I should, the gift was supposed to give me an Anasazi supernatural advantage (read: luck), and thus the name: Mojo....and apparently it works. This past Saturday the Arkansas Cookie Monster showed up, racked his gun, and then draped over the muzzle what looked like a spotted piece of roadkill. Amongst the gawking and snickering shooters was heard: "Does that thang smell as bad as it looks?!!"..and Obiwan's mumbled reply about the "force" being with it.....well, whatever the mangy thing emitted, exuded, expelled, and/or excreted was easily negated by Mojo, as match results indicate. At least John got some cookies for coming. Now Mojo wants to go to Arkansas this weekend...hmmmm, I don't know..after this post we might get lynched!!  ;-)

JNeihouse: I'm not into "good luck stuffed animals" but if I ever decide to try one I think, all things considered, I'll be going with a Smurf. No offense intended, either to you or that thing on your gun barrel.

Ed,

Come on down and bring Mojo.....Will admit that Spottiing Kitty was a little taken aback by that ugly thing.  And Mojo bothered her a little bit too...Her moment of hesitation most likely cost me the match, with me finishing 3 targets behind you....But we'll both be ready Saturday.  As far as the way Spotting Kitty smells, don't know what your're talking about.  She smells exactly like the inside of my Jeep.  Which smell like the sweaty shootin shirts that are back there along with gun cleaning witches brew.  Mmmm I love that smell.....Thank Suzy again for the cookies...Hey Frank, Ajj, George....Whenever I go to Red Castle Suzy sends me cookies.  You guys aren't showing me the love......

Ajj,

Spotting Kitty is hurt  After you snuggled her up (see the picture in other posting) she though you two were an item.  Now you toss her aside for a Smurf?   You know, after you ran your hand up inside here she caused me to have a terrible match.....Is that covered under the "competitor interference" rule.......

Sounds like Saturday is going to be a shootout.  The bad boys of Benton and the Outcasts of Oklahoma meet up at the border for an old fashioned shootout at Old Fort Gun Club.....Wow, what drama.
