445 supermag for hogs
« on: July 05, 2005, 10:38:50 AM »
I'm trying to set up a handi rifle to primarily use for hog hunting. Right now it is a 44mag but i think i might have it reamed out to 445 supermag. Would this be a good cartridge to use for hogs?

Just to give you an idea of what the gun will look like when i'm finished. Here goes........I'm getting a youth camo laminate straight grip stock set to put on it. The barrel is 22 in. long right now but will be cut down to 17''. And will be topped with a red dot scope.  And rechambered to 445 supermag.

Where i'm gonna be hunting shots would reach about 75 yards but no further.

i looked at some ballistics  and that should punch through both shoulders which is an important trait of a good hog gun. try to use  a good hard cast bullet with a wide meplat

Yeah, sorry i forgot to mention what kind of bullet i will be shooting. I planned on hard cast instead of copper anyway. Can you recommend a good bullet for the job?
