Just want to share a good note on the Zebco company with GB readers:
Last Christmas, my 4 yr old son was given a Zebco Ready To Fish spinning rod kit. June 29 I finally got him out in the boat to fish and we opened up the kit to discover the handle for the reel was missing. The shape of the plastic wrap on the package makes it clear the reel never had a handle at the time it was sealed up. The sender of the gift probably never noticed the missing part.
The trip wasn't a bust as I always take extra gear. But June 30 I emailed Zebco seeking a replacement handle for the reel. Even expected to pay a little for it. This morning, July 5, there was a complete kit in the mail, for no charge! And we live in remote Alaska where mail doesn't always move fast. Four days from Oklahoma is impressive.
So now I have a real happy 4 yr old with 2 nice little spinning rods , a working reel and a parts reel (minus handle) for back up.
I'm really impressed. Granted the kit isn't real expensive but to have such a quick response with no hassle is most pleasurable.
Good service deserves a nod. Thank you Zebco.
Guess I ought to thank the US Postal Service too. This was no special delivery shipment.
The salmon are running and I can take tomorrow off - we'll have to give that new rod a work out.
