Exceptions are made for those who have to carry guns for work, such as police officers and military personnel. But they can only carry the weapons while on duty.
So once again those who choose a certain profession are considered elite & above the rest of us. :roll:
This domestic ban thing really gets my dander up. Now its one thing if a fellow beats his wife in the face with a shotgun or uses a gun to terrorize her but it baffles me how this helps anyone who gets punched in the face or hit with a bat. Not top mention that they rutinely lump people who had non violent arguments in there under the guise of domestic violence. More feel good legislation that does nothing but deprive people of their rights.
I had an arguement 15 years back with a drunk girlfriend. She called the cops, the cops made her leave my house & told her if they came back she would be arrested. I thanked them for their understanding of the situation & they gave me a summons :shock: charging me with disturbing the peace & disorderly conduct. They said they realized that it wasn't my fault but were only doing their job. :roll:
So I go to court like a good boy & they send it to family relations, even tho we weren't a family. The ex batered wife social worker family relations woman wanted me to jump thru hoops & over tall buildings to prove that I wasn't an abusive man even tho the police report clearly showed that I was cooperative & rational & the woman involved was drunk & beligerant.
Well, I'm a working man & rather than spend umpteen hours at anger management & drug & alcohol evaluation to prove to her that I was a good guy I told here to kiss my behind & pled guilty to the breech of peace & they dropped the disorderly conduct. Got a couple mos probation & paid a fine & forgot all about it.
Well it turned out that counted as domestic violence because I pled guilty instead of fighting it. Didn't know that tho. So I apply for a permit to carry & get turned down. :x After much BS I found out why & was flabbergasted. I wrote a letter to the issueing authority (police chief) & got no response. Talked to a lawyer friend & he suggested getting a letter from her if possible & sending it in with my aplication. She agreed & wrote the letter attesting to my respectability & the fact that I'v owned guns for many years & she never once felt threatened by me on account of them & still got turned down.
So now what? Only alternative for me was to get a pardon from the Governor & that secured it after hiring an attorney at the tune of $2500.
Now, who would be responsible had my wife & I been robbed or killed because I was refused a permit by a feel good law?
Some will say I got what I deserved but I ask how many people can honestly say they never argue with family members ever?
Nope, this type of law sucks. A man beats his wife or kids he oughtta be in jail. A man has an argument & noone gets hurt the cops oughtta mind their buisness. I dont necessarily blame them tho as its the laws they are made to enforce that stink.
