I have short action Howa, 22-250 and a 243. I wanted a one piece base on the 22-250 and the shop installed a Redfield long action. The spacing for the screw holes on the rifle matched the screw hole spacing on the bases.
My question is: will the screw hole locations on a one piece long action bases will generally line-up with the screw holes on a short action rifle? I am thinking about one piece bases for the 243 and the 7-08 Weatherby.
Other than the rifle chamber opening on the long action being longer, are there any other possible downsides to installing a long action one piece bases on a short action rifle?
Thanks,
Gary
