Advice on a set
« on: July 09, 2005, 07:37:06 PM »
I was planning on setting some traps at a friends place to catch coyote.  I know the trails they take and the terrain (scoped it out at Christmas time).  I was thinking that for one or two sets I could put a snare on the opposite side of a deadfall so that when the coyote runs underneath, it would get snagged.  Does this sound viable?  I was also going to hit up a few other places, but I wanted to check the logic of this set first.

Didn't think they had that many 'yotes in Fallujah! Seriously, thank's for serving and hope you make it back before next season. Can't snare here in NY but I catch quite a few 'yotes in the the plain 'ole dirt hole and flat set. From what I have read on snaring however, anyplace that the anaimal's path crosses a pinch point is a good spot to set up. Good luck and let us know how you make out!

Sorry 'bout that, I was away from the board for awhile (I got back in September, but didn't have the internet until Wednesday).  Thanks a lot though, it means very much to realize there are still Americans out there.  I am in California now, but I am moving to Indiana at the end of the month.  That is where I'm going to apply some of the things I've learned here and from my grandpa.

Not a problem, glad to see you're back. I been in the Air Force for 17 years myself and have made a few trips to the middle east, only 3 more till retirement. Good luck to you this season!

I get out of the Marine Corps in less than 2 weeks, and then I'm moving to Indiana.  I plan on doing it then.
