While we're on the subject of new links, here is source that is not currently in the references:

CannonFuse.com

I buy all of my cannon fuse from them.

As long as we're on the topic of links...Here's a few places you can get small quantities of metal for your building projects:

I thought i had Big Sky on the list. I guess I only thought I did, oh well over 50 years of age and suffering from Old Timers disease.

I'll get these posted later to day,  first I have to go load some 577/450  cartridges and go shoot my Martini.

Got all the links caught up and posted.  I thought you might like to see what the code looks like to post the "Where to find Blackpowder Cannons and shooting supplies" list.  If you miss a square bracket or front slash it can be the devil finding it.

Code: [Select]

Where to find Blackpowder Cannons and shooting supplies

List of suppliers of Cannons, cannon shooting supplies and materials for building your own gun, big and small taken from postings here on this board and found on the internet.

Links are active.  Just click on any name and you will be taken to their website.  This is not an endorsement just a list of resources.

If you find one of these links dead, please drop me a PM.

If you contact one of these companies, be sure and tell them you found them on GrayBeard 's Blackpowder Mortar and Cannon Board.

Warning and disclaimer: Shooting cannons is not like shooting a big over sized muzzleloader.  There  is a completely different set of internal ballistics  involved.   Read up on cannon shooting before you acquire a cannon. Suggested reading is THE MORE COMPLETE CANNONEER  By M.C. Switlik with selected excerpts from other artillery manuals
The book can be order from these two suppliers.

What makes it worse is the little itty bitty window 2-1/2" wide to do all the editing in.

AND, if you have an extra 'enter' (end of line character) you don't notice it until it's posted.

Here is a chart from Gibbons.

Ranges of Heavy Ordnance.-- Continued.
Kind of Ordnance.
24-rounder coehorn MORTAR  Ball-Shell 17 lbs

Powder-Ounces---Elevation---Range Yards
0.50----------------" 45 00-------25
1.00----------------" 45 00-------68
1.50----------------" 45 00-------104
1.75----------------" 45 00-------143
2.00----------------" 45 00-------165
2.75----------------" 45 00-------260
4.00----------------" 45 00-------422
6.00----------------" 45 00-------900
8.00----------------" 45 00-------1200

With the Gibbon window open do a search on your favorite word, like mortar or powder.  You will find some interesting reading.

I learned a great deal just searching the word Coehorn. Try it!

As most of you know, you can right-pick on the link and then pick "Save Target as: " and download the entire document at your leasure.  (A good time to take a lunch break if you're on dial up.)

I recommend when reading it, using http://www.onelook.com/ which searches a bunch of different on-line dictionaries.  On some of the obscure terms he uses there is only ONE dictionary that has the definition.
