I have read some good ftuff in a current G&A article.  It came in with some impressive statistics.  Don't know if T/C will make a factory barrel as of this point, don't know.  Have heard some talk of third party barrels being available,   but not sure who is selling them.   :wink:

T/C already makes a factory barrel. Check the 2005 catalog.

I like the 6.8 but to me, the .243 is a better round. it has more energy. more loadings, and more selection of bullet sizes.

the point of the 6.8, i know, was the fact that it has more juice than the .223 and fits in the same guns so the military doesnt have to re-toll everything from the ground up.

which is fine but "new" doesnt always mean "better."

i am not sure what it does that 6 other chamberings in T/C guns don't already do. as a hunting round, the .25-06, .270, .243, .280, and .260 outclass it.

i guess its another one of those "because we can" things and for that  :agree:

The 6.8 SPC is a good idea because it works in a contender. The 243 and other 6mm work great in the Encore, but to high pressure for contenders. I plan on ordering a 23" 6.8 SPC barrel soon.

i see what you mean, in this light it works well. i just meant that in most guns its pointless. the contender will be a great platform for it.

i just wish i could USE my contender to hunt deer with. i am restricted to a straight walled handgun cartridge...thinking about the .357.

I have a 15" 6.8 SPC, not the carbine. Ive only had it out to the range once. The two loads that i shot were very accurate. Many groups under 1" at 100 yds. I think this will be a great round for the Contender...should do anything the 7-30 Waters will do. The only problem i see is bullet selection. Remington is suppose to come out with a 115 gr Bonded CoreLokt factory load..but havent seen it yet. Barnes is making a 110 gr Triple shock..that should work very well..just costly..$25-30 for box of 50. I have a load with the 110 SP from sierra..but dont know if that bullet will work well on deer size game. JD Jones says the 110 gr VMax works...but only on broadside lung shots...otherwise the bullet will give poor penetration. I plan on finding out what works this fall. My first choice will be the 110 Barnes TS, then the remington factory load..if i canfind any.

I am also going to try the sierra pro hunter 110gn. I thing it should work for deer/black bear under 300yds.
