Varmit master, I am asking you because you are an Arkie like me, what
gives with the Ar. Game & Fish Comm.? They now say that the coyote
season begins Oct. 1 instead of in August.
I asked a game warden if they now thought that we did not have enough coyotes. He looked at me in a very stange manner & I explained what
I meant. He said that he had no idea why they did this. I guess we have
too many city dudes right out of college making these decisions.

If you know why this happened please let me know!

Yep....the college boys are in control.....they know everything and won't listen to nothing.......the liberal education taught them that animals have rights! Haven't you watched the animal planet TV Channel? Sharks and poisonous snakes are our friends! So are wolfs and coyotes! The animal cops are watching you and you'll get more time for shooting a stray dog than for killing a person........sorry for the rant......

Victorcharlie just gave me another thought. Many of the coyotes here in Arkansas are dog and coyote crosses, so are they under the Game and Fish?.. or just considered feral like other wild dogs and cats. I have land in Benton and Craighead Counties and most of the coyotes I have seen in the last five years have been coydogs. I think that would be an ample defense if someone shot one out of season but it will probably have to go to court to get an answer from the G & F. Just something to think about.

That is a good point about the Coydogs. I have seen that some also as
well as the pure breds. But also back in the late 60's we had Red Wolves
in a few remote regions & they were never completely killed out, but
rather even according to our game & fish (we actually had one then), they
bred themselves out of existance by mixing with coyotes. By the way, I
have never heard of the Northern Grey Wolves doing this, but then again
the Red Wolf is between a Coyote & Grey Wolf in size & traits. I have seen
a couple of these too & yes we have a hardy Coyote indeed, sometimes
much bigger than the Western Coyote.

Hey Sorry i read over your post i was off line back in July for a few weeks.
I have email and email the G&F asking about hunting at night . They said NOOOOO that would let all the poachers wipe the deer out.

I said let us take a spe. class to get a license to hunt at night and only use a shotgun with shot no bigger than lead BB's. I said you would be making extra money off of the spe license to predator hunt at night . They said how could we tell the poachers from a predator hunter. Well if you catch a guy out there without that license and a gun beside a shotgun. Then you mite want to check him lol. I dont look for prdator hunting any time soon in Arkansas. And the G&F has always got the coyote seasons dates miss up VM
