I spoke to the New Zealand importer of handi rifles and he confirmed that they are no longer able to purchuse barrels for Handis from H&R only rifles, this is disappointing but went with what other folk outside of USA  had to say, so in a panic I asked if they had any barrels left and yes they did have few, so next week I am sending my rifle up to have a .22 Hornet and a 45-70 barrel fitted, now to justify this I am selling two perfectly straight shooters of the bolt action variety to pay for this fit of handimania , why a 45-70? Always wan't a gun that makes big holes in things, as we have no Bear in New Zealand.
Regards Howard.

Well the one thing you can say for sure.....

The 45-70 cal bullets never shrink in size, where as all the others try to expand up  :-D

You can load the 45-70 to your liking from a real pussycat to a real thumber that lets your shoulder know you been having just too much fun

And now I think I will have me another cup of  :coffee:

Well no wombats in New Zealand but our close cousins in Australia do, but we do have plenty of deer, chamois, thar, hogs, goat.I am sure I can put the 45-70 to good use.
