Ruger .22 Standard Model out of lay-a-way
« on: July 11, 2005, 01:54:39 PM »
I have my new to me Ruger .22 Standard Model. A 6" barrel with a pair of immitation stag horn grips. It cost me $130   at the gun shop because it has some nicks and holster wear (character). Test fired it with Super Colibri (I'm in an urban area, no standard velocity ammo) to see if it fired, it does. Cannot wait to get it to my favorite range.

My first time out with it was...... great  :-D . At first I shot for function. It digested the Federal Champions without a bobble (although I cut my thumb loading the magazine,  it's follower slot is razor sharp but soon remedied   ). I was shooting at 25 yards using the standard six o'clock hold and was shooting low, actually where the front sight rested. I corrected for this and was shooting 2 1/2 to 3 inch 9 shot groups dead on at 25 yards off hand!!! I think this little jewel can do better, it is just the loose nut behind the grips   . She is a keeper.
