Remington 700 w/Blued "stainless steel" barrel
« on: July 11, 2005, 03:26:16 PM »
Friend, just purchased a 700 in 300 Win Mag, interesting thing is the barrel is marked stainelss but it is blued.  The serial number indicated 1968 manufacture.  Research on this rifle reviels nothing.  Can anyone help with some info on this particular rifle?

thanks, sherppa

I had one in 7mm mag. back in the late 70s, It seems to me that the mag. calibers were sold that way back then but I cant put my finger on the exact explanation, it was a great rifle, I took a couple Canadian bear, a few mule deer, and a Col. Elk along with some antalope and several coyotes off of the Rancher in Craig Co. who we were leasing from, If it were mine I would shoot it and see how it groups b-4 deciding to keep it, I let a good friend of mine talk me outa mine in 1980, good luck  :D   JIM
