Pump up pneumatic.
« on: July 11, 2005, 05:27:43 PM »
I have a five year old Benjamin/Sheriden pump up pneumatic in .177.
I forgot all bout it when I got into the hi powered springers.
I dug the old girl out today and fooled around at the bench and was pleasently suprised.
With a .22 scope with fixed 4 X and parallax set at 50 yards I shot a 20 yard 3/8" 5 shot group with it.
The only problem with the thing is pumping six times for each shot.
With 6 pumps it will shoot through both sides of a steel coffee can.
Wonder if she would take squirrels?

Take more "tree rats" than you'll care to clean.  My only problem with pumps is the pumping between shots that can and has scared other squirrels nearby when the sound of the shot didn't.  Lawdog

That Benjamin/Sheriden will do you ok and will have enough power to take the largest tree rat but like Lawdog stated the only problem is the pumping. But I wouldn't hessitate having a Benjamin or feel under gunned.
