The .22 lr hunting ammo I use is the CCI Stinger.  Go to http://www.cci-ammunition.com/default.asp?menu=1&s1=3&pg=18&prod_id=13 and check them out.  Really pack a punch at over 1600 fps.  Not as accurate as target ammo but they shoot well in all my .22 lr.  Lawdog

Another good CCI rimfire load is the Velociter. MI VHNTR

My hunting load in most of my rifles is CCI SGB.  Not a hoolw point but great on squirrels and bunnies.

french,

The best way to do is buy all different offerings and shoot them to see which your rifle likes the best.  My personal preferences based on my rifles likings are Win Dynapoints and CCI subsonics.
Good Shooting,
George

George said it right. You got to try it all to see what your gun or guns like. I would rather shoot a target load at critters and hit where I want the bullet to go 1 moa and under than a so called hunting load that shoots 3 inches at 50 yards. You never know a cheap bulk packed hollow point may shoot better than a target load it happens a lot it all depends on what your gun likes that is why you need to try it all. Jim

You have to try what's out there but I have not had good luck with the super HV rounds.  Both of my hunting 22s have tight chambers (a target chamber on the bolt gun and that "almost target" chamber they use for semi-autos in my 10-22).  Also, my requirements for a hunting round is "good accuracy".  If I want explosive terminal ballistics, I don't use a 22.  Having said all that. I find that CCI's SGB (small game bullet) works well in either gun and they tend to be consistent for me.  I have shot some ammunition that drives tacks with one box and then the next box is a disappointment.

I have tried the CCI SGB, and was not impressed with their performance on game. I have switched to the Velocitor. Puts rabbits down with authority. If you try a few loads, your rifle will let you know which one to use.
