One thing I learned recently through air rifle practice is that it takes me X number of "controlled" practice shots to get my mind right.
Example... I was shooting all animals around 8.3-8.5 average (on paper) EXCEPT the chickens, shot them low 7's / high 6's, a full 1.5 points below my "Average". Always started on chickens. Now, when I practice, I shoot (4) 5-shot strings before I shoot at the first chicken after I have confirmed my zero for that night (usually averaging 25 shots before starting), I used to just zero and then start practice. First time I implemented this, I shot 10 chickens. I am now shooting chickens on par w/ the others.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Also how about big matches where there is a long wait between shooting peroids?
