Trail Camera
« on: July 15, 2005, 09:16:27 AM »
Hi guys I went to Cabelas and seen a digital Stealth Cam model STC-WD1.
I was going to get the cuddy back but decided to try this one. Its a 1.3 mega pixel and runs on 6 C size batteries. So far I am pretty happy  with it. I set it out on July 2nd and  I got 7 pics of deer on it and the batteries show full charge. Sure beats running around paying for film to get developed. Only bad side to this cam is the 5 sec delay.

Anyone else have digital trail cams? also how do you like them?

Thanks,

Norse

Cuddeback, Cuddeback, Cuddeback.  I had the Stealth Cam, but did not like it.  Got some tremendous pics with the Cuddeback.  And the batteries lasted from Sept 1-Nov 6.  Probabley would have lasted longer, but I changed them just to be on the safe side.

I have read/heard alot of good and bad about the various brands and models of trail cameras and am curious to see how the newer Cuddeback digital compares to the others.

It seems many of the trail cameras have trouble with short battery life, delayed shutter release, false/ghost photos, unclear photos, etc.  Hopefully the mfg's will eventually cure all of the problems and produce an acceptable product for an affordable price.

Let us know how the Cuddeback holds up and if you have any problems.  I would like to see your photos too.

I would love to invest in trail cams but I cannot see spending the money at this time.  Hopefully they will come down in price in the coming years...Norseman, Let us know how that Stealthcam works out for you...

i recently bought a moultrie 1.3 mp for 119.00.  it has great features including video.  it runs on a 6v lantern battery in which you can get rechargeable and use a solar charger.

this thing is great.  the pics are plenty clear for scouting...i mean they arent the qality to do 8x10 blowups or portraits obviously, but i can tell if a bear is a broar easily cuz i can see his janglies in shots.  thats all the clarity i need for scouting.  and its 200 bucks cheaper than the competition.

one issue ive had with stealth cams is the pir sensor is not that sensitive in the hotter days as othe brands.  so ive missed alot of shots using those.  the cuddiebacks are nice but too expensive for me to buy.  i know a couple fellas that have em and they do well....but they also paid alot for them.
