Wingmaster barrel twisting?
« on: July 16, 2005, 02:26:12 AM »
When I hold the stock in one hand, and the barrel with the other,I can rotate the barrel maybe as much as 1/8th of an inch. The end cap is tight. Can any one give me a reason and advice as to what I might try. Thanks

this might sound stupid but is the stock on tight? hold it from the receiver instead and try twisting the barrel.

I know it sounds silly but its happened b4. If youve already tried it, ignore this  :D

If it still wiggles, I have no idea what to tell you. Ive been around various rem shotties over the years along with owning several, and have never come across what youre describing.

Didn't sound stupid at all. But that's not the problem. You can hold the receiver and turn the barrel some with hardly any effort. I have an 870 Express and it is solid. I am somewhat baffled too!

Check the ejector. If there is that much movement, I'd think the nose of the ejector is broken off.

They all wiggle. It's just a matter of how much. Some more so than others. It really matters not in the least. Not a problem. Don't sweat it.

Some of mine wiggle and some do not.  Don't worry about it.

Glad to hear it isn't an issue. I just didn't know that the barrel could rotate that far. I will check the ejector nose though,as I have had some ejection problems that weren't caused by short shucking.
