4 Years ago when I purchased the Baikal (now a collectors item :-D ) it was basically the only combo I could find in .30-06/12 ga. Since then there have been several manufacturers introducing combo guns. What is the best value for a new combo gun (this leaves out the Valmet, sorry Drillingman)? If you where going to purchase a combo gun today, what would it be and why?

If I ever get to see one I most likely will get one of the Spartan rimfire combo guns. I have seen the center fire models and they look good. Trouble seems to be that my gun shop can't get one for me to see...

You didn't put a price limit on the new purchase, so i'd be looking around a bit as normally as the price goes up the weight goes down, and i hate dragging a tank around!!

Once i figured out what i was going to use this new combo for, I think my first stop would be at a Blaser?

Price is not an issue,

but the combo needs to be one you would take into thick brush and will get banged up.

I don't have a problem dragging ANY gun that i own out in the bush!! I've hunted all over Alaska with my older drilling and the replacement cost on it today would be thousands more than i could ever afford.

Same way with my newer one, i even floated 100 miles of river in the interior of Alaska with it in the canoe, and all i did was put a small nylon rope on the sling swivel in case the canoe tipped over...

If i had a new Blaser it would go to the woods with me!!! I've never understood owning a firearm and then being afraid to use it!!!

A bit late into this one.

The BRNO is a good piece if you don't mind the blockyness. Very accurate and good workmanship. The safety is finally in the right spot and takedown is very simple. The QD mount system is flawless.

I owned one of the older models but traded it off in a trade up for a drilling. No real regrets but if I wanted another combo I might possibley go back to one. Haven't heard any press about the Charled Daly combos, but if they are good that would be a close second.
