Ithaca Mag-10 and steel shot
« on: July 17, 2005, 04:00:12 PM »
Hey Guys.  I recently picked up an Ithaca Mag-10 with the 32" fixed full choke barrel.  I fully planned to shoot Bismuth through it until I compared it to my friends Mag-10.  The wall thickness at the muzzle is thicker than my friend's.  He also has an SP-10 that had to be cut down when his hunting partner blew out the end using steel shot with a full choke.  I don't want my gun to end up like that.  My question is this: Did Ithaca make any of the full-choked Mag-10's to shoot steel shot?  Since Ithaca is Out-Of-Commission I cannot ask them, obviously, so any help you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated.

The "road blocker" was border line pre steel shot era.  The SP-10 built on the same pattern is good to go.

I know of at least a 1/2 dozen guys shooting them and all use steel shot.  I used to shoot one with steel bbs and 2s with a full choke barrel.  Just got to darn heavy to carry around.
