Check your previous post.  I put a link up that will show you where to start looking.  If you want to shoot chucks, pretty much anywhere outside city limits for you should do it.  Look in rock piles, landslides, man made dykes - anything that has rocks with hole in it where they could hide.  You would do best to look near areas that are close to water or have green grass or shrubs nearby, as that is what they eat.  They may be estivating by now, as I hear they go under ground as soon as it gets too hot for them.  As far as ground squirrels, they will be in similar habitats, but harder to find as they are smaller.  I have found that they are active in the mornings, usually right when the sun comes up and starts to heat the rocks.  They won't stay out if it gets really hot, so being there as the sun is coming up is usually the best plan.
Good luck, and if you find an colonies you just can't handle yourself, PM me!
