I would try Nosler again. Some rifles like different bullets, but 3 " is quite a bit I agree.

Temperature changes can affect powder performance. So can humidity and temp have affects on the forend pressure. If it's as hot there as it has been in a lot of the country lately, it could explain the difference. The powder and temperature issue is one reason why I like to use powders that are claimed to not be temp sensitive like the Hodgdon Extreme powders....FWIW.

I've seen that much difference and more many times when the ONLY thing changed was the bullet even tho same weight. I've seen same thing with same bullet and same powder but only a grain or two difference in the powder charge. It's just the way these things work.

Guess I didn't read your post very well!!   Even though they weigh the same, there are lots of different characteristics of each bullet that can make them shoot way different. Jacket thickness, length, both overall and bearing surface, ect....change one thing and it will be an entirely different bullet as far as how accurate it is and the POI, too.

quickdtoo, I normally prefer reloads, but I have to see if my son's 30-06
will like this load. This bullet should be a great Whitetail load. Very nice
group!  :D

Have you checked the COAL for the two different bullets? With the different shapes, one will have more or less "jump" to the rifling.

This can make a big difference in group size.

I'd tinker with the seating depth, your rifle may like the Speer's, it may just want them closer (or further) from the lands.

Good luck,

Rick

Verrrry Interesting! Never actually considered that speaking with forked tongue as being bilingual ...but if it is, it means practically all politicians are bilingual!!

.. and truthfully I'd be shocked   and surprised  if anyone accused you of speaking with forked tongue.. especially anyone on this forum!!

Cheers
