Anyone use surplus powders for handguns & rifles ?

For some it's not a bad deal, you just have to remember that the powder is not an exact duplicate of the civilian canister grade they always assoc. it with. For example WC820 some will tell you it is close to AA#9 others will claim it is close to H110. Neither is correct, it's faster (way faster) than H110, yet slower than AA#9. About the same as Lil Gun or N110 in speed with the bulk of AA#9.

Needless to say you MUST work your loads up from scratch.

I have had some good luck with pulldown bulk IMR 4895 and sense i don't load to max i feel perdy good about them

I use blc2 and imr 5010 my 7.5x55 likes the blc2 and the 7mm rem mag seems to like the 5010 even though it's a bit slow for that caliber. But you can't beat the price.

Ive use alot of it mostly in handguns ive gone through 6 kegs of wc820 and a couple of wc820f and aa2 kegs. In my opionion wc820 is aa9 there is a little variation in burning rates between lots but no more then accurates product. Which in case you dont realize it is nothing but surplus powder packaged in nicer containers. Accurate arms has never manufactured powder they repackage surplus powder. Ive done enough experimenting with it over the last few years to know that there is very little differnce in the two and theres more of a lot to lot variation then there is between the two differnt containers it comes in. Ya better pick it up fast though as rumor has it that the supply is almost dried up.
