winchester model 70 pre 64 stock
« on: July 21, 2005, 02:47:05 AM »
I would like a stock for hunting so I don't bang up the orginial, I was thinking of a new model featherweight for my 257 Roberts, my question is besides the rear sight barrel band what other modifications will have to be made, or will it be too hard to do- I saw a pre 64 with this stock on it and it really did loo and feel sweet, and help will be great.

I shouldn't think it would be too much of a problem.  The m70 (pre64) was a long action only beast while the new m70 does come in various action lengths.  It will most certainly require inletting as barrels are likely of quite different contours.  I will say however that I've not done this..
