To convert or not convert . . .

:cb2: Brownells has a conversion kit by Borchardt Rifle for a Single Six that converts a .22 to a .17 HMR or .17 M2. Personally I'd rather have a .22 Hornet, but, cost being a major factor, and I already have a .22 Bisley to perform this on, which would be better? The HMR or the M2?

However, (to further muddy the waters) I still haven't been completely converted to the .17 HMR/M2 yet. Should I just stick with shooting .38/9mm in my BH Convertibles? The ammo would be cheaper.

Just thinking. Not serious yet. Still looking for advise from other wiser heads.

Thanks for the link i think i'm gonna order the mach 2 conversion. and maybe the HMR latter on. To bad it's not stainless like my single six :?

i just read that it has to be done by a smith. Does anyone know about what this would cost to do?

:cb2: I guess that depends on the smith. I've learned to shop around. I have a guy that I have been using for years. Thought he was kinda high on something so I called around. Found out he's been high on everything. He's my emergency only guy now.

they have the wrench to do it yourself. I might have to invest in one of those as well.....it's alittle pricey though....

There's no reason that you couldn't order the barrel and BOTH cyls and have a convertable 17M2 and 17HMR.  Now that would be fun.  

I wonder if that BBL is available with a simple blade frt sight for a fixed sighted frame, as I get older I have gotten rid of my adjustable sighted pistols and gone all to fixed sighted ones.
