Scope mounting

Ok, I'm new here. I've been wanting a contender since I was a kid. I got hooked shooting my friends 256 win mag. I went today and put a G2 on layaway. Got to looking at it. How do you mount a scope on it? Is it as simple as removing the rear sight and getting a weaver base? It didn't look like it was drilled and tapped(had iron sights on it). Only hunting handgun I own is my blackhawk (I'm a single action fan) but I love single shots too. Thanks in advance.

You are correct that the rear sight is simply removed to mount a scope base.  On some sights, driving out the roll pin is necessary to get the top part clear of the mounting screws.  If you prefer a Weaver base, it is 92-A.  I like Burris Signatore Zee rings if I'm using a Weaver style base.  There are many, many other scope mounting possibilities and I'm sure lots of folks will share their favorites.

The 256 win mag is great isn't it?  That is what my Contender was chambered in when I bought it around 1989.

I really like the T/C duo ring mount. Maybe not the cheapest, but strong and good looking too.

Thanks for the info and the link. I'll have a 256 win mag someday...along with a 7-30 waters. I can see this is going to get expensive!!!

You are now lost the T/Cites and nothing can save you.               There are lots of mounting systems out there for your T/C G2. Remember MORE RINGS ARE BETTER. All of my Contenders have three rings and some have four. Welcome to Contenders. They do get in your blood.
