Does this mean in WI you have to "apply" for a permit or tag for all of those species? Do they have tags for them? Is there anything you can just go buy a license over the counter for?

Didn't realize it was that way for anything other than big game and in a few places turkey.

:D deer and small game are over the counter. Most of the others need to be applied for. We'll let you shoot a lot of does.
Bear licenses take years to get.
We even have tags for fish. (Sturgeon)

Just dropped $76 dollars for all my licenses for the up-coming hunting season.

Small game, gun deer, early season goose, regular season goose, state and federal waterfowl and fall turkey APPLICATION! Good thing I don't bow hunt deer or hunt bear.

There was talk of a grouse and partridge stamp as well.

Damn, that reminds me, I need pheasant tags...

This was after buying fishing liscenses for inland waters and the Great Lakes.

Gotta pay to play...

I do not mind paying but nowdays the turkey and deer and I suppose to a limited amount bear  are the money makers for the state  hunting licenses. Any thing else the DNR has no interest in fixing like the low populations of grouse and rabbits due to all the predators amoungst other things. A DNR game manager even told me that rabbits and grouse were not high on the priority list. I still buy goose permits and duck stamps even though the duck hunting is poor compared to years past at least there are a few geese around. I see that MN was upset that the feds did not limit the duck season for the northern states. Well I hate to say this as a lot of guys here are from the south but until the feds limit all the areas in the states instead of just the north what good will it do. It does not make much sense to me that the feds are worried about how many ducks are shot in WI when they get down south and they really get harvested compared to here. Seems like a unfair advantage to me. The northern states harvest are a drop in the bucket compared to southern states with the exeption of the Dakota's maybe but WI and MN and I would suppose MI seasons are poor as the flyways has seemed to have shifted east and west of us.
