1. When did the G2 Contender show up?
Fortunately I bought a couple of Contender barrels before the G2 model took the Contender's place.
Now I gotta problem.
To order a new factory barrel or a custom barrel from EAB I have to settle for a G2 barrel.
Apparently that means I would also need to purchase G2 forends since the Contender forends won't work with the G2 barrels.
2. Is that correct?
3. If so, is there an easy mod for the Contender forend so it fits barrels for both models?
Actually I don't care beans whether it is a G2 barrel or an old Contender barrel.
I just don't wanna have to double up and sort out all my forends every time the barrels are switched just because I now have to settle for G2 barrels.
Last question.
4. Is there anyone still making barrels for the old style Contender (before the G2)?
The other two shops I found are too busy to answer their email.

What doesn't fit on your forend? I have both pre and post G2 barrels and only a G2 forend and it works fine.

Bullberry will make barrels to your spec and sure will make them for old style forarms. They had a few specials in stock last time I looked.

I would rather invest in a gunsmith's expertise than an expensive little piece of carved wood or rynite.
Shooting mild calibers like WC intended will keep an old Contender shooting for years, and the G2 should have never been necessary, especially since the Encore had already well proven its virtues.

Now I am confused.......original Contenders and G2s take the same barrels...the foreend attachs to the barrel...only. What is your real problem ? I have both...I can assure you there is no problem.

Can a forend for an oldstyle Contender tapered barrel be used with a G2 tapered barrel when it is mounted on an oldstyle Contender frame?

Keith L's answer leads me to believe I would have to purchase a G2 forend.
Since I already have forends for the various oldstyle Contender configurations, I want to use the forends I have already, and not purchase any more for any G2 barrels I add to the collection.

Best I can do. Maybe somebody else can explain it better.

Here is the answer to your

direct from the T/C website........

NOTE: The Original Contender and the NEW G2 Contender use the same barrels and forends. However, the stocks and grips are different and do not interchange.

EAB just says the stocks are different but doesn't provide a full explanation in regard to the forends.
Couldn't find the answer at the FoxRidge site either.
I even called FoxRidge, and whether they know it or not, confirmed that I would have to buy a G2 forend.
