Poll. Your favorite fish....

Well I fish for Brook trout the most and I like brook trout for eating. Still my most favorite fish to eat is the bluegill or sunfish a mess of them fried  up cannot be beat. Walleyes are good but I think over rated I think Northerns taste better but a lot of folks hate to mess with them acount of the slimey skin and the y bones. I like them I think they have better tasting meat than the walleye though I would never turn down a walleye dinner.  :) I prefer my fish fried I never got into baked or broiled fish that much.  I may go against the grain here and I practice it some as I do not keep every fish I catch but I fish for fun and the pan if I take the time to go fishing I want something for the pan in return.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

St. Croix, Flambeau, and Chippewa for small mouth bass.  In the process I think I probably catch as many muskie as most muskie fishermen do on purpose.  (I also fish muskie on purpose sometimes.)
I fish the small mouth because they are so darn much fun to catch, but for eating I'll take river walleyes any day.  I always fish when the hunting season is closed.

You missed a good one.  Sturgeon is my favorite fish.  And you can't just lump them together with all the other bottom feeders either.  They are a blast to catch on line and I also spear them on Winnebago in the winter.  Also one of the best eating fish you will ever put in your mouth!

I have heard that, but in my area Sturgeon are a closed season. There is a season in Lake Superior but finding one in that lake would be worse than a needle in a haystack.  Lived in Eau Claire for a year going to school a long time a go back in the 70's and fished the rivers around there and caught some smaller ones which I could not keep either. Had some big ones on at jim falls but was not set up for them and the season was closed there too. I would like to catch one, one of these days just to say I caught a legal one. Jim

I got to agree with you there   Northern to me taste better than walleye though I would never pass up a walleye dinner  :)  I think Bluegills are one of our best eating fish and I really like brook trout too. THe other trout are ok but they do not surpass a brook trout in the eating catagory.

I love bluegills. Fun to catch and had an awsum time on the " Missy" cooking them up on the sand bar last summer. Flathead cats are a good time too.

How do you cook a gar-fish so it's edible.  Thats about all we caught on the Miss last time I was there, plus walleyes, northerns, catfish, etc.
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Guys, have y'all forgot about how good crappie tastes?(several nicknames). Filet size redbreasts and small channel catfish round out the freshwater list for me.

Gar fish is good fried and also cooked like a pork roast. Cut a large roast out .  Stuff with onions ,garlic , shallots , bacon strips salt and just a little tabasco for kick. Cook in a cast iron pot with a brown gravy maked from sautaied onions garlic bell peppers and cellery if you got it. MAN MAKE YOU WANT TO LOCK THE DOORS SO THE NETGHBORS WON'T SMELL IT COOKING!!!!Not that is smells bad but so good you don't want to share!!!!
