980 Ultra Slugster/30-06 both SB2's

H@R says that they won't fit a centerfire barrel to the 10 ga. frame for some reasons that don't hold water to me. they are both SB2 frames. I checked all the deminsions with a dail caliper, no appreeciable differences with two exceptions; 1. the barrel lug  recess is deeper  2. latch groove is .070 higher 3. frame side thickness is less, on the Slugster.
I tried a .223 and 30-06 barrels on the Slugster frame, no problems, no gap, tight open or closed. I also put these barrels on the Slugster frame ,same thing no problems.
What are some of your thoughts on thi

I think you should listen to what NEF has stated on this one. Any shotgun receiver NEF makes isn't heat treated like the  NEF SB-2 rifle receivers....no matter what designation are giving for them...and this has been tried before with not so good results...I'm sure someone will post the link to the latest example of this...but you can always search for it as well.

Check the firing pin hole on the shotgun frame and you will likely see that it is larger than the hole for the rifle frame.

It will cause the primer to flow back into the firing pin hole with not good results.

All the measurements are exactly the same, fire pin hole size, firing pin itself plus the distance from pin hole to top of the reciever are all the same. I dry fired 8 spent 30-06 shells to verify, perfectly centered on the primer.
My question is why do they call it a SB2 frame if it is shotgun frame? They mentioned no safety problems just reliability isues.
