Marlin Model 36, how do you take the fore end off?
« on: July 28, 2005, 03:04:49 PM »
I just purchased a Marlin model 36 30-30 and I am going to re-finish the wood.  However I can not get the fron end of the gun off.  Can anyone help me.  I have the whole rifle stripped.   Also, I picked it up for $230.00 The metal is in better than good codition.  Was that a good deal?

Does it have a barrel band or an end cap on the foreend?
Whichever it does have you need to take it off first. A band its likely you'll need to take off the front sight first to slip it off. An end cap just remove the screws. Once thats done it should come out with the tube. Its usually a tight fit & might need a bit of wiggling but dont get crazy as you want it tight.

Thanks for the reply,

I ended up breaking the wood and had to reorder a new piece on line.  I am sure it will turn out well after I finish it.
