Rem 760/7600 9.3x66 Sako
« on: July 28, 2005, 03:55:47 PM »
I just got through reading about the 9.3x66 Sako cartridge. It's about .36 cal. with near .375 H&H mag power. The case is the same diameter as an 06 case and about 1/10th of an inch longer with the same OAL as a 30-0 round. The shoulder is set forward for more powder capacity and has a 34 degree shoulder angle. It would fit the magazine and action and has more crunch than the Whelen. Now all we've got to do is find someone brave enough to shot one. Man, talk about kick! I wouldn't need one but it would make a good big bear rifle.

Sako is chambering it in Europe but not importing them into the US. The review mentioned was done by a writer who shot one while in Europe. I doubt they will become available here as sales of the 9,3x62 is pretty slow and this one likely would be even slower. Still it would be a nice one for someone needing that power level.
