Older Rem 22-250 is there a recall?
« on: February 22, 2003, 05:57:17 PM »
I will be coming in to an older Rem 700 22-250 through a family member. I have been told that there was/is a recall on some of the older Rem 700's.
Additionally It has been said that years ago the former owner accidently shot his truck with this rifle. They swear's that they never touched the trigger? with this in mind I am quite leary of the rifle and at least will have my gun smith go over it. After I receive the rifle I will call Remington with the S/N.
Can anyone help??

Yep, there was a problem with them but I don't know if it was a recall.  There was three screws I think that needed to be replaced in the trigger.  It cost me like $20 bucks to have it done to my 222 Mag.  When you push the safety off the firing pin would follow.  And yes, alot of people shot stuff accidently because you had to tak it off safety to work the bolt to unload it.  Get the rifle and drop it off at a gunsmith and have them repalce the screws, nothing to it.
