My other post re: center fire plinkers got me thinking,

It would be cool it NEF would offer Handi's in one of the common auto-calibers.

It would be a cool fun gun.

I would buy any of those in an instant, especially if it came with fixed sights.

Why did NEF quit making .357 magnum rifles, and resort to providing a handful of .357 accessory barrels?

It seems to me the .357 magnum Handi was still selling well when they discontinued it.
If at first you don't succeed, by all means try again. But if this doesn't work, give up, because there is no sense in making a darn fool of yourself.

Umph, why does NEF do anything they do??? :?  Seems they think certain calibers don't merit production, I guess.

Or how about a .30 carbine barrel?

I would definately buy a 30 carbine barrel. Ammo is pretty cheap. I think Aguila is like $12 for a box of 50.

Indeed, .30 carbine would make another excellent Handi caliber.  H&R passes up business oportunities right and left.  I can't believe that all of their production decisions are based on a sound understanding of the market.

We ahve begged for these chamebrings and others like them to absolutely no avail. I guess that NEF thinks that we are the only people who buy their product and not enough of us would buy such chamberings to justifly the manufacturing expense. What they seem to fail to realize is that 1) they have the perfect platform for it and 2) they would be the only maker offering such a beast.

Yes, Ruger and Hi Point  and a few others offer semi autos in pistol chamberings. But no one offers a single shot in them. A 9mm or 40SW or 45 ACP Handi....What a wonderful fun gun, teaching gun. I would much rather have one of these to bring a youngster into the world of centerfire than a 30-30 or 243 or even a 44. A 223 is too specialized a chambering for simple plinking. I would buy a barrel, even a firearm in all of the above chamberings if NEF would only make them. If they would just offer the 9mm and the 45 it would suit me. They could offer the 9mm, the 45 and the 30 Carbine and do nothing more than stock reamers for them  as they already offer suitable rifled barrels. What a no brainer...What a missed opportunity.

It is odd that nobody has developed this concept.

A 9mm handi with 16"bbl and iron sights would be the ultimate truck/fun gun.

I bet you couldn't keep 'em on the shelves.

It seems that they came out with a pistol cartridge barrel this last year... the 500 S&W

And if this is gonna be like the past expect it to only last a short time offering like the funnel cakes at IHOP  :-D

The consept is great, but it seems that long term is not in H&R's interest as we saw with the .357 mag.  Did H&R listen........ nope.

i wouldn't mind seeing the 32 H&R mag or a 41 mag either.......i would be in heaven if they would produce a 16 1/2" 41mag barrel. Then i would have to get the reamer for it too. A 16 1/2" 414 supermag, a 16 1/2" 445 supermag, and then i would have to get a 357 mag barrel to make it a 357 max

Already have that in the 410/45 Survivor model. You can order the barrel from the program too.
I got to stop feeding my head. A 357....Agggg... :x .... :o only a matter of time now. I got to have one.
