XP-100 conversion
« on: August 01, 2005, 07:04:51 AM »
Does anyone know which trigger is used for an XP-100 conversion to rifle or rear-grip?
This is the older dogleg model, circa 1983-1989.
There are several listed for Mod 7 and XP-100, but no info whether they also fit the older model. I doubt they will fit mine.

pffft, anything that fits the Remington Mod 700 will fit the XP-100 conversion to rifle or rear grip pistols.  The trigger safety is a different issue because the XP-100, Model 7 and 700's are different but if you do not care to have a safety I recommend a Jewel, Canjar LP, New Timney for Mod 700, Shilen and other 2 oz conversions for Mod 700 rifles.

Thanks Tony Tello,
What makes this confusing is that in all the articles I have read there is never any mention that 700 triggers will work. In fact, there is more in advertising to say that it might not work. Such as this ad for the Timney 501:
Quote
Trigger is fully adjustable from 1-1/2 to 4 lb, over-travel and creep. Fits Remington 700, 7, 40X, some XP100's, Models 721 and 722 (with ULA safety and bolt stop) as well 700 muzzleloaders. Uses factory safety and bolt stop. Right hand actions only.

Then there is no explanation as to just which XPs it is referring to, and it leads me to believe that well, this is probably for the newer rear-grip models.
Company secretary's answering questions seldom have the answers.
But, considering that they all work, then the Jewell trigger sounds to be the best choice.

pffft, you are welcome.  I have one of the older XP-100's converted to a rifle and it has a Canjar LP made for a Rem Model 700 on it at the moment.
