Online Ammo Source???
« on: August 02, 2005, 05:13:45 PM »
I read a thread the other day where one of the posters mentioned an online ammo source that offered free shipping if a certain number of boxes were ordered. I have tried unsuccessfully to find the correct thread for two days now. Does anyone know of the one I am talking about or have another they would recommend?

Thanks in advance...

That post referenced the sight www.ammoman.com  I checked it out but didn't see much of a selection for some of the standard calibers. Might be wrong though as I only had a couple of minutes to check it out. Anyway, good luck hunting for that ammo.  :D

I would compare prices + shipping with other sources first. I don't think you ever get anything "free".

Hey all you experienced factory ammo guys out there, how bout helping some of us newer folks here with your favorite ammo sources. I know a lot of people here handload but those of you who don't and have found some good online places to buy ammo, post the links here.

Thanks,

Buck - drop on down to the Mil-surp forum and check out the posts by crazyhorse on different websites he has listed for mil-surp products.  There are a number of responses to his post listing even more web-sites and some discussion as well.  It may be what you are looking for.  HTH.  Mikey.

Checked it out, thanks for the point in the right direction Mikey. I'm not into the MilSurp thing so I don't regularly go there.

Seems like every online source I've found - not a lot- are all about the same price within a couple of $$ a box. Just wondering if someone had discovered the best value site of factory ammo. Half the fun is the challenge of saving a $  :-)

i have found that the cheapest prices are at the area gunshows. i can buy ammo from the vendors for the same price or less than the on line guys and not pay shipping. if you haggle and buy enough they will eat the sales tax. although i do buy online i have found that usually you never get free shipping it is built into the price. you can make some good deals online if get on email list and can buy when they run sales.

I'm w/ Arky above on the gun shows.  The last show I went to I scored a fantastic deal on a case of .35 Rem ammo.  You never know when they'll take a low ball offer; it simply never hurts to ask.  Man was I sore by the time I carried all that ammo back to the truck.

If gunshows are not an option for you, I've found pretty decent prices & reasonable shipping charges from the following on-line sources.

1.  Cabelas
2.  Bass Pro Shops
3.  Wholesale Hunter
4.  Cheaper Than Dirt
5.  MidwayUSA

www.midsouthshooters.com  -----  www.natchezss.com lists ammo in their catalogs. They add shipping to the orders  but the ammo cost me less than purchasing it in my area.
