Nosler Partion HG's in a 444???
« on: August 03, 2005, 04:16:47 PM »
Has anyone tried the 250 grain Nosler Partition HG's in a 444 yet?  I'm a big fan of partitions and wondered if anyones harvested any game with them or is the velocity of the 444 too mugh for them to handle?

MRC - that Nosler bullet is a handgun bullet and may not give you the success you should get from the 444 loadings.

If you want to stay in that same weight range, Hornaday makes a 265 gn bullet specifically for the 444 that has worked very well for a lot of Triple 4 shooters on this forum.  You can come pretty close to 2300'/sec with the 265.  I don't know if the 250 Nosler would hold together at those velocities.  HTH.  Mikey.

I too use the Hornady® Light Magnum® 265gr FP. It is an EXCELLENT BULLET!

Why don't you call NOSLER® and inquire about using the bullet in the 444? The only dumb question is the one you don't ask.

The same question was asked on the Nosler Forum and the Nosler Rep's reply was:

The 250 gr. PHG works quite well at 444 Marlin velocities 2200 to 2300 fps.
Weight retension is 85 to 90% with deep penetration. don't hesitate to use on elk at reasonable ranges.

Good luck..Jayco
I didn''t do it and whoever said I did is lieing!!
