Turret heads in a progessive press.
« on: August 04, 2005, 07:06:35 AM »
I have a Lee progessive 1000 and was looking at the Lee turret presses and they look almost the same. I wonder if you could just remove the shell plate and use a Lee turret head? The progessive I have was a gift and has never worked very well. Mainly the priming part is a pain. The case comes around and the primer doesn't feed and if ya don't catch it the powder will go thru the primer hole and makes a mess. I have other single stage presses I have had for years but would like the speed of the turret and like the ability to check the powder charge from time to time.
Anyone ever tried this conversion?

Look on the Lee website and read the owners manual for your press. It's available in PDF format. I have an old Pro 1000 that I have been using for years, with few problems. The manual will show you how to clean/lubricate and adjust your press. They work as well as any progressive when properly set up.
