I want to rebarrel a pair of Jager SAA's
« on: February 23, 2003, 10:43:58 AM »
Does anyone know who's barrels might fit, or what the thread's on the barrel are?  These things are old enough that parts are hard to find, I've already tried Brownell's and the other one, cant remember the name offhand.

Seems I remember from a loooooong time ago that the early EMF Dakota's came from Jager.  Worth a call to Boyd Davis to ask.  Good luck.  44 Man

This is one of the few times I've drawn a blank on a particular firearm.  I think JAGER is an Italian manufacturer, but I haven't been successful in finding anything on a JAGER SAA.  Do you have another model name or number for the guns you have?

Yep, this'un is an oldie.  Left side of barrel marked:  Dakota Cal 45 Colt  cat 1456,  Top of barrel marked: Jager Italy Mod 1873,  Bottom of barrel marked: EMF-CO-Ca.  Sn 76xxx

Stable mate identical except Sn of course

I thought it might be fun to put a 7.5" barrel on one and a 3-4" on the other.   Got the idea from the Mel Gibson/James Garner movie "Maverick"  it was the rig James Garner was wearing.

I sent an email to EMF about this, they were prompt, polite and wanted to know what the thread pitch was.   Not sure how to politely tell them that if I knew that, I wouldn't have needed to bother with them.
