Sorry folks about the major misprint.Must of had a case of mind block. What I'm trying to find is 180 gr rem bronze points. I see the 150 gr at midway but I only want the 180 gr.Now that I have given the correct info hopefully someone can help. Thanks again.

Try www.blue-star-inc.com for all Remington components. They presently show the 180 Bronze Points listed as in stock but "discontinued."

What is the advantage of the bronze point in these bullets?

Point well said. I quess almost any 180 gr of decent construction in the 30-06would be a suitable bullet for most situations.From my understanding the rem bronze point was the predecessor to the ballistic tip. Not that it matters who was first but for the only reason that the bronze point(180 gr) shoots beautiful in my rifle and the bullet is well constructed. Thanks

I believe that they did it to keep the point from being deformed. The same reason that the Silvertips are being made. Only thing Remington has done it for several decades. My fathers uncle only used the 150 grain bronze tips for deer, I only wish I could shoot as well as he could. Dale.

Here is what Remington has to say about the Bronze Point bullets:

"A superb choice for long-range medium game. The high ballistic coefficient of the bronze insert produces a flat trajectory and maintains high velocity and energy at extreme ranges. Yet on impact, the tip is driven backward to create rapid expansion that is controlled to optimum limits by the pre-grooved jacket, even on thin-skinned game. The tip also protects the bullet nose from being deformed by recoil while in the magazine."

These bullets were in production for over 60 years and they predate all other existing "tipped" bullets. Perhaps the first "tipped" centerfire bullet was the Hoxie bullet (1907), which used a round steel ball placed in a hollow point.

I use the 150gr bronze point for my 30-06. My uncle who taught me many years ago to handload swore by them. He was correct, at least for my gun. Extremely accurate and the performance was excellent. Many deer fell to his .270 and my 30-06 using the bronze tip.
