Trail making?
« on: August 05, 2005, 04:19:51 AM »
I was wanting to get some feedback on whether or not anyone has had any measurable success on making trails to set snares and foot traps on. There are a lot of places on a farm I trap that look like they would be excellent places to set snares or blind sets on, but there is a lot on weeds and grasses growing and sign is hard to find. Trails, if any are few and far between. Most of these places are inside corners of cow pastures. Has anyone tried putting in man-made trails to encourage animals to use these trails? I know there are coyotes in the area because the farmer has told me he hears them at night and I have seem fox there. Most of the pastures are used, but there are a few that the farmer lets grow back before he turns his milk cows back on them. During the trapping season he moves them closer to the barns so he doesn't have to go far to check up on them. Thanks for any help, Worm.

Try it and see.   I've heard of it done for land based animals.
