My two RV's shoot left--hey, there's a new topic we haven't had before

One, #225, is just an inch or two left--I can live with that

#318 is about 5" left, at 8 yards--a bit much.

Today, as I was cleaning them, I took a close look at the 318's barrel and front sight--it's not straight. It leans to the left--like the barrel needs a smiggen more tightening. As an action job is in the near future and the gunsmith will do it for free I'll have him correct it.

Could send it back to Ruger but don't have the time till the next match and don't want to spend $$ on the shipping--I'm cheap. :grin:

The action job is free, or the barrel turning is free while he has the gun??

I know teachers are overpaid and under worked, so you can probably afford such frivalties :-D But a Wolf spring kit for rugers is $13.50 and valve laping compound is about $3 which comes to about ....mmmm...carry the one....$30 for the pair???

Cheyene, I'd think real hard about fooling with that front sight. Butler correct me if I'm wrong, but if your sight is bent to the left and you straighten it, your pistol will start shooting even more to the left! More than likely the pistol was regulated some what at the factory. Tweeking the barrel over or bending the front sight is a common method of windage adjustment. Remember, you want to move the FRONT sight in the OPPOSITE direction you want the bullet impact to move. As to the gun shooting to the left, Butler has posted elswhere the fact that right handed people have a tendancy to shoot to the left with a single action. Rugers aren't as bad as Colts, but it still happens.

Holiday, your correct, I just figured a texan would be looking at the muzzle whilst he was describing :-D :-D :-D He did have the screwing in of the barrel correct

Troops,
The sight is perpendicular to the barrel. It's that the barrel is not "straight" with the frame. If the barrel is tightened it will "move" the sight to the left (this from the back of the gun) and this will cause the bullet to strike more to the right of the point of aim. If it was hitting left then tightened the barrel will cause the hitting (not sighting) to move right. This is assuming that the targets are alined on the target for each shot.
The barrel turning is free with the action job and he is also going to install the aftermarket pawl so the cylinder will turn in both directions.

hopes this clear up some of my less-than-detailed info on the first post.
