Heavy barrel diameter?
« on: August 08, 2005, 05:02:58 AM »
What in the diameter of a factory heavy barrel at the muzzle?  I have a Fox Ridge barrel but they are a little fatter than the factory offering.  Any help is appreciated.  I don't care if you have calipers or not just give me a rough measurement with a tape across the center of the muzzle.

a full bull Contender barrel is the same diameter from breech to muzzle. .870" plus or minus. That is one of the reasons "custom shop bull barrels" are easier to make than tapered ones. Straight rifled blank, cut a chamber and weld on a lug....kinda makes you wonder why the lead time is measured in months .........huh?

I need the OD of a factory Encore barrel, no Contender.  I have a Fox Ridge Encore barrel that is .850 at the muzzle at 26"s.  I know they are a little fatter than the factory heavy taper barrels but I don't know how much?  Tis the question.

.805 is what I am being told on the Encores, thanks fellas.  Think I will stick with the 24" factory taper, I just like the way they feel? :?
