Antonio Zoli JP Murray Musketoon - advice pls
« on: August 10, 2005, 03:21:09 PM »
Hi guys - I wondered if anyone could advise me on a weapon I recently acquired.

It is a JP Murray Musketoon .58 caliber made by Antonio Zoli.  It has the maker stamped on it, Navy Arms Co and a serial number of 16415.  I have been told by its previous owner it was made in 1961 as civil war 100 yr anniversary piece and wondered if that was correct.  I have tried contacting Zoli's & Navy Arms but they weren't much help as they say those haven't been made for about 20yrs.

Does anyone know anything about this piece and its worth or how I can find out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanx.

Thanx for that Wiley - I am new to this world and wasn't aware of Dixie - its a great site, thank you for that.  The link you gave me was for a Murray made by Euroarms - Italy, but the one I have says Antonio Zoli - Italy.  I have done searches and cannot find a thing.  I wanted to know how much a model like this made in 1961 (if indeed it was) was worth.

Thank you.

I have a excellent Antonio Zoli Silver Snipe in 20 ga a Dbl.and when I called them about 10 years ago I found out they had been sold to Bereta but were still making barrels.

I have 3 Zoli 58s. A 2 band Zouave, A Hunter carbine and a JP Murray. The serial number on my Murray is 16475, or 60 digits higher than yours. I bought it new in 1973 for about $250 from Navy Arms. NA still offers them, don't know who makes them. In the replica business, the tooling seems to get passsed around a lot. Looking up value under NA for the Murray:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

J.P. MURRAY ARTILLERY CARBINE
- .58 cal. perc., 23.5 in. brown round barrel, color case hardened hammer and lock, brass trim and bands, 7.5 lbs.

Grading 100% 98% 90% 80%
MSR $705 $625 $495 $395 $295
I'm usually guided by the thought that it's worth what someone will pay for it.
