I use them all the time. They work great for me. If you are out and about, varmint hunting or what ever it's one of the best purchases you can ever make in my opinion.

I tried a Harris bi-pod and it really hurt my accuracy.  The 270 started "stringing" the patterns.  Removed the bi-pod and I was right back to 1/2" groups at a 100.  I know all handis are different, this was just my experience.

I guess I should refraise and say when I use them in all my bolt action rifles, yes they work great.  In my 223 Ultra it works good too if I hold everything tight, but I have yet to try it in my 30-06UltraComp-in which I hope to get some sort of range time in soon. The 223 doesn't produce much recoil like a 270 or 06 so you don't have as much jump.
 Like Matt said every rifle is different to some degree, and they all have their likes and dislikes. Only way is to try for yourself and see.

I tried a Harris bipod on my .223 Handi and it shot lousy groups. Mine must be supported at the hinge pin to get good groups, like allot of other Handi's.

I bought a harris bi-pod for my 223 hb. Bad choice it wouldn't shoot worth crap with it on. But it didn't go to waste, i put it on my m70 compact classic.

FWIW, I shot the .22-250 fluted Ultra yesterday on the bipod, didn't shoot well at all. Removed it and groups actually formed inside 1".

Today I floated the forend in front of the barrel stud. Since the bipod can be mounted to the rear or the normal position on the forend, it may work out well.

I noticed the new NEF varimeter ( I think that'd what it's called) has a new foreend for attaching bipods. Does anyone know if they can be purchased seperately. I looked on the H&R site and didn't see any.

It's an H&R Fluted Ultra Varmint, the post preceding yours is about the very question you ask.. Dunno if H&R will sell the stock separate yet, but Choate who makes it does....
