Your favorite scope for Ruger 10/22 ?????

What is your favorite scope to mount on a Ruger 10/22?  I would like to keep cost under $60.00.  Do I need to only consider a "rimfire" scope or are all scopes suitable?  All comments are very much appreciated!

I spent a bit more and got a Bushnell trophy 1.75x4 with the circle X reticle. I plan to use the rifle for squirrel hunting. I had a Simmons .22 mag 3x9 and it was the worst POS I've ever had. I've read they're much better now but can't say. IMHO you don't have to get a rimfire scope but if you get a scope for centerfires with over 4x you may have parallax problems if you don't have an adjustable objective lens.

Sorry, can't help you at that price range.  All my 10/22's carry Burris R/A scopes that will focus down to 7 yards.  For rimfires I would get a scope that focuses down to 25 yards or less.  Most big game scopes are set to focus down to 50 yards and that's it.  You are going to have to shop around(try Ebay at http://sporting-goods.listings.ebay.com/Scopes-Optics-Lasers_Rifle-Scopes_W0QQfromZR4QQfsooZ2QQfsopZ2QQsacatZ31714QQsocmdZListingItemList - I’ve made some great scopes purchases there) and see what available.  Lawdog

I have a Heavy Barrel stainless, houge overmoulded 10/22. And I bought a BSA 3-9x40 Silver scope for it for 39.99. It shoots great, I can keep 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards pretty regular. I bought the scope from sportsmansguide.com I'm sure you'll be pleased.

The Burris R/A is a scope that is approved for use on rimfires and springer type air rifles.  These scopes have 1/8” adjustments instead of the standard 1/4” adjustments.  This allows for finer adjustments.  Instead of covering a 1/4” of an inch at 100 yards these cover 1/8” of an inch.  Also seeing that these scopes will stand up to the “double recoil” that springer air rifle have they will stand up to the heaviest recoiling rifles.  I put one on my .378 Weatherby during the barrel break in period(my Burris 1.75X-5X-32mm Safari got back ordered) and no problems.  To see the Burris line of R/A scopes go to http://www.burrisoptics.com/special.html.  Hope this helped.  Lawdog

I have Bushnell 4 x 12 - 40 from Wal-Mart on my H&R .17 HMR and Sportster .22LR. They are $69. and have adjustable objective down to 15 yards that works really good. Both have been excellent. Not a "prestige" scope for sure, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. They are a little on the heavy side.

Dave in WY has given the best bit of advice that nobody seems to heed until they've spent money on a non AO (Adjustable Objective) scope first! (For their target 22s) I had a Leupold VariX II 3x-9x that I'd sent to the Leupold shop to have it's paralax adjusted to rimfire distances. It was originally on my Marlin 880SQ. What a big disappointment it was, because even with the factory adjustments, I couldn't get a clear look at anything over 5x@ 25yds. Now, both the 880SQ and the Izmash biathlon have Bushnell 4x-12x AO scopes.....this is the perfect set-up if you wish to use over 5x at rimfire distances.

My two Ruger 10/22's both have 4x scopes....one a Weaver R4 rimfire 4x, and the other a Simmons 4x. Although the Simmons was intended to be used for hunting rifles, I don't see much difference between the two at all rimfire distances. Since neither of the 10/22s are intended for target use, I feel this is the perfect setup for them, as well.

Guys will try to tell you that an AO scope isn't all that important, until they get one......I was no different. I went through two rifles with 3x-9x hunting scopes, that were fixed AO, before I saw the light! I can remember even telling some people who'd tried to clue me in, that I didn't need an AO scope, because I can see clearly without it......NOT! Better late than never, and I'll NEVER go back to 2nd best!

I have the 8.5 X25 Mueller Eraticator on my 10/22. I'm very pleased with this scope.

This rifle has been modified, GM 20" bull barrel, trigger mods, bolt tricked out etc.

I have a quality bolt gun with a real nice Leopold that is designed for rimfire guns.  It's nice and bright and works great.  When I go squirrel hunting however, I almost always take my 10/22 with a red dot scope.  I am the sort of hunter that comes home empty handed because he waits for head shots that just don't develope so you would think I would want the bolt gun.  Not so, The 10/22 with the red dot provides headshot accuracy with the option of speed if I choose to use it. :grin:

You can try one of the shotgun scopes. These are pretty inexpensive and are set for 50yards. A plus side is that they are usually small and look good on a rimfire.

I put a Leupold VariX III 3.5 to 10 that some guy traded to me for my Bushnell Trophy 3X9 (79.99) even up. The deals are out there somewhere. You just have to turn over a few stones.
