Stimpylu,

I understand what you mean about it sounding like combat during deer season.  A couple years ago at one of the woods I hunted at, I counted over 100 shots before I stopped counting......and that was in the first hour and a half sunlight!!!  That's why they decided to make it mandatory to plug your shotgun I'm sure.  I swear that some guys just see a deer, and figure since they have 3 shots(now), or unlimited like before, just spray and pray figuring that they will get them.  I saw a nice 8 point running for all it was worth last year across the field I was watching with a hind leg dangling....it's a damn shame that's for sure.

 It sounds like open season on Hunters in the Buckeye state. I was born and raised in Columbus, left for the military in 1970 and did't move back. I hunted on my Grandpa's farm and all we ever used was slugs. It would be a news flash if rifles were allowed. But using common sense when it comes to Ohio games laws never entered into equation. I handgun cartridge is a handgun slug even if it barrel is over 5" long. I didn't hunt in Bama for the same reason liked their beer while they dove hunted. I think the birds were safer than the hunters!!!!

10, 12, 16, 20, 28, or .410 gauge shotgun using one ball or one rifled slug per barrel (rifled shotgun barrels are permitted when using shotgun slug ammunition); or muzzleloading rifle .38 caliber or larger; or handgun with 5-in. minimum length barrel, using straight-walled cartridges .357 caliber or larger, or longbow, crossbow (draw weight limitations same as for Archery Season).

Shotguns cannot be capable of holding more than three shells. This means you may not hunt with a shotgun capable of holding more than three shells, unless it is plugged with a one-piece filler which limits the capacity of the gun to three shells. The filler must be such that it cannot be removed without disassembling the gun.

Heres whats on there web site. I wouldn`t do it. Rich

You need to read about halfway up this thread.  That was already determined by the call to the ODNR, Gary Ludwig.

He has since emailed me and saw, how through the emails, the confusion started.  And NO rifles of ANY caliber are NOT legal in Ohio for deer.

That was why I also posted I have a 20ga slig barrel on its way to me.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!
