A question Jeff, or anyone else, can you shoot .44 Mags and .445 Super Mags out of a .444 Marlin? I found a new or like new .444 Marlin at a small gun store in Maine last fall but could not think of a reason to get it since I have a 45-70. If I can shoot several other rounds out of the .444 Marlin I just might see if it's still on the rack. Besides .444 Marlins any idea what other calibers can be fired out of a .444 chambering? Thanks....<><....

444 only because of the tapper from a 45 colt base to a 44 neck If you could there would be a looong jump like the 45/410 barrel

My curiosity is getting the best of me. Can anyone give me a little more info on this. I mean why I should do it,  what this cartridge looks like, ballistics, etc..
Is this a wildcat and do you specifically have to reload for it?
Cause I have seen no commercial ammo for it.
 Sorry, my ignorance is in pistol cartridges.

the 445sm kind of falls inbetween the 44mag and the 444 Marlin.i hear there is two places where you can get ammo from but the way i look at it this is a handload caliber.the 445sm is case is  longer than the 44mag case.what the reamer does is make the chamber longer and it will also cut a new throat or shorten it some if your chamber is long throated.this is a good round for a single shot pistol or a rifle where the extra length barrel will get you some extra FPS.there will be a step up in recoil from the 44mag but in a rifle you wont notice it much.

this rechamber is a simple one where a guy can do it right at home.same deal as a 357mag to 357max.

you want in PM me for my address

The 445 supermag is capable of low end 45-70 velocties. It is primarily a handloader cartridge but there is 2 places that have ammo fot it.

got to find the other link.....i think the cheapest box of 20 is around $28 a box.

As soon as D41mag sends me his mailing info I'll be sending him the $$$ for his 44mag barrel. So I'm gonna be good to go when the reamer arrives and it comes my turn to turn. I'm pleased.  :D

Making cases should be very easy, just use .30-40 or .303Brit cases cut off the the correct length and size with a .44 Mag. die.. the rim will have to be turned down, but that can be done with a drill motor and a file, just put a bullet in the mouth, chuck in a 1/2" drill motor and spin slowly while holding a file on one side and a wooden backup on the other side.
The rim must also be thinned about .005", can just be done on the end and then use pistol primers rather than rifle primers.

Midway has 445 brass for $30.99 per 100 and $145 for 500. You guys are in for a suprise when you chrono these things. Mine is a little closer to 444 Marlin speeds than the 44 mag.   Digger

I think the .445 Dan Wesson was designed to compete with the .454 Casull .

If this procedure is done, how will it effect accuracy when shooting normal 44Mags?
Or is it kinda one of those, you have to wait and see ordeals?

doing this rechamber might help you out accuracy wise.the reason the 357mag to 357max deal got started was to correct a long throated nef factory chamber.the accuracy improved after the rechamber was done on most of those.the 44mag to 445sm is the same kind of deal.once the rechamber is done on these barrels you should be able to seat the boolit just off the lands.when you do this it offen helps out with the accuracy.a few barrels seem to like the long jump to the lands but most shoot better with the boolits seated just off the lands.i dont know why that is but thats the way it is from what i have found.i cant really say just how the 44mags will shoot for you once the rechamber is done.my barrel will never see another 44mag round once the rechamber is done

only two payments so far for this rechamber.must be there are a number of them on their way

those two are from zip codes,
