300RUM
« on: August 15, 2005, 05:46:34 PM »
Have been looking into getting a 300rum. here's what i have narrowed down my choices to.

Rem sps for 440.00 new
used sendero ss fluted for 700.00
or a new bdl with ingraving for 449.00

Are the actions on the sps's the good 700 actions or are they similar to the 710 actions.

I fell my best buy is the bdl. Found this gun at Dick's Sporting Goods.
they got 4 of them in fromanother store. reg. 569.00 marked down to 499.00.  Got another 50.00 off, making it 449.00, because of a litte scratch that will easily buff out.

Quick, someone reasure me that i'm making the right choice. thanks, DM

It looks good to me. The Sendero seems a little high to be used even though you can't buy a new one now. I have to tell you the Sendero is my favorite & I have been able to get a 7MM Mag for $550.00 recently(used very little) & I have seen a couple of others for about $600.00. Check out
Shotgun News & there will be an ad for a PSS (police version of the Sendero) new for if I remember right around 680.00 or so. The Sendero
& the PSS are usually about as accurate as a factory rifle gets & I like the
weight when you touch off the 300RUM! I have a couple of Sendero's that continue to amaze me with their accuracy. You see my preference.
But back to your question. Out of the 3 the BDL looks good, but remember
this round is pretty robust in a normal weight rifle.
Good luck with your decision!

I'm a fan of the sendero also, have one in the 7mmrum. If had choice would probally prefer the sendero, but this gun will not be used a great deal. a bit muchfor southern whitetail.
How's the recoil compared to the 7mmRUM.

If I were you, this is just my :money:

I'd go with the BDL. The SPS rifles are basically the new ADL synthetics, all three rifles you mentioned have the 700 action, only the 710 has the 710 action .

The Sendero might be a better choice, but if you want a good buy, go with the BDL (only if it's in good condition). Most used guns I've found are good even though they've been through a previous hunters' hands.

I wish you luck on your new rifle! :D

JPSaxMan - the bdl is NIB. It only had a small scratch on the stock.

It's in the safe now. Felt this was the best deal being as I got it for 429.00.
Have allready removed the sights and got it ready to glass. Now that's another decision.

PS-there are still three left for 479.00 NIB

Well Finally got the stock the way I wanted it. Looks GOOD. Just mounted a R3 recoil pad. Have a 6.5x20x50 Whitetail classic on it for now, just one I had. Will shoot some more and then decide on what scope to go with.
Midway had the 6.5x20x50 WT Classic on sale for 99.00.  I bought two a while back just because they were cheap. If you get a chance pull them up and look at the reviews for this scope, boy was I suprised.

Anyway, looked at a BDL syn 300 RUM today. Glad I got the walnut.
Still not a sendero, but next best.

I'd go with the BDL too if in the $400 range on account of open sites present.
