Well, the No.1 MKIII Enfield I ordered last Monday came in yesterday! As you can see from the pictures it was packed full of cosmo, but it took around 4 hours to take apart and clean, so it s really good looking now!
Its dated 1942, I very happy about that, I wanted one that was made during either WWI or WWII.
I just need a sling, stripper clips and ammo now, and that won't cost very much.

Its better than I thought it would be.

I bought it from Classic Arms, the rifle was $120+ $15 for handselect and $16 for shipping.

Its actually a No1 MK111* rifle made in the Ishapore Rifle factory, Bengal, India and as you say WW2 dated example.

Is there a transverse screw through the forend in front of the reciever and behind/below the rear sight?

Is the bayonet Ishapore stamped?

Haven't got a clue, it does have some stamps, but I don't know what the Ishapore stamp looks like.
