:D  I have a 742 on layaway and it cost a total of $ 240.OO. Is it worth the price or do i look else where for a 200 yd Elk rifle. Most of my shots on Elk are tless than 100 yards. Sounds like these rifle jam like crazy. Icertainly do not want "a pig in a poke" if you know what I mean. Your voice would help.

I had one, and I never had a jam. Just keep the chamber clean and rust free. $240 is a pretty good price. I let mine go for $250 about ten years ago. It certainly was accurate enough for 200 yard hunting.

I had a 150 yr anniversary model, loved it but I sold it to buy my wife a birthday present, really loved that gun, it never jammed on me and I reloaded my ammo. Only bad thing I can remember was after a long day of chasing whitetails, it tended to get a little heavy.

:-D I am glad I did not get this rifle. Went to pay it off and the gunsmith noticed a crack in the reciever. i picked up a 7600 instead in 30-06. Now i have a matching pair one in 06 the other in 270.
